
You Can Move Beyond Barriers
My Letter to You
Dear Change-Maker,
I'm excited to connect with you today! I want to share how you can move beyond barriers.
Moving beyond barriers is extremely important and essential to your success and ultimately the impact you want to make. Many of us have dealt with barriers over the past few weeks, months and years, and though it has been hard, it can be even tougher if you decide to stay stuck.
Today and each moment is your opportunity to move beyond barriers. You may feel stuck at this very moment and that you’ve struggled without knowing what to do next. And if you're anything like me, you know, know you are meant for something more. You are not here to be stuck and feeling like you are not able to take the next step forward. You're here to make a greater impact. And that greater impact is so worthy of you being able to move beyond feeling stuck, to move beyond the struggle, and move beyond what has been holding you back. I know you want to do something different in your life. You want to do things that are going to help make a positive change in your environment, a positive transformation in your community, or to make a positive impact within your personal or family life.
When you are working to create the change that you're here to make, and you’re faced with hardships, what happens is that you can't get past those barriers that come up in your way because you get stuck in a cycle or you become unsure of your best next step forward. It's like you're trying all the things on your own and nothing seems to be working and you've strongly considered throwing in the towel or stopping or maybe you have stopped.
I want you to know, you can move past this. Many times, when you're in this space, you experience low energy and you can get stuck in that low energy, not wanting to move forward. Thinking that you will just lay low, take a break … that then goes on for days and ultimately you begin not showing up for the change that you're here to make.
When you get into this cycle, it becomes just that, a cycle of the same thing that you want to get out of.
It is important to become aware and name what has been holding you back so that you can begin to move out of it.
When you are in this place of holding back you are in an inactive or a reactive state and when you are looking to create change and move beyond barriers, you have to get yourself into a proactive state.
So let me share the key steps to move beyond barriers and get proactive with you. With these steps you will be able to activate the change that you're really here to make.
Imagine that this is your time. This is your month. This is your week. This is your day today.
And imagine that you’ve stepped into that power that you have within… that unshakeable power … that energetic power and you can create and activate what you're here to do, the change that you're here to make.
What would life look like if you were in this state? What would life feel like? Know that you have a higher vibrational energy. How would you be able to nurture and cultivate the change that you're here to make? How would you be able to nurture and cultivate what you're here to activate in life?
I get it, I know right now, this is not your reality. And here's why. Because a lot of times you're not doing what you really need to be doing in the present moment. You get side tracked. You hide or are so focused on something that does not help you move forward. Or you are sitting with low energy for so long that you do nothing, including not being sure of your best next step forward or maybe you’ve tried so many things all at once with no results and are thinking “why continue to try?”
But I am going to share with you what works, what will help you get out of the cycle and what you can do to shift.
The one thing I want you to know is that mindset matters. And when you don't show up for yourself, it is due to the thinking that you've been engaging in, what you've been focused on in your mind, what you've made a decision or a choice about, and what we've been cultivating for a little while. And you may think you weren't thinking that way. But if you dig deep and you do some deep reflection, while paying attention to what you have been saying to yourself over time, you'll hear words or language you’ve said to yourself that has been unsupportive of the action you really want to take. And so when you don't show up for yourself or take the action that will help you elevate to the level you are here to elevate to you need to see what language you are speaking that is keeping you stuck. You have to pay attention to those things that you're saying to yourself. And what you believe about that. It’s time to work on a renewed mindset.
I am sharing this to help you process what has been going on. And know it's not totally your fault that you're experiencing this. The truth is, there's nothing wrong with you. But you're in this situation. So I can show you how to turn this around, uplevel your mindset and take action.
One of the things that I want you to pay attention to are my eight steps to move beyond barriers.
1. Identify your barriers or challenges - What are you challenged by? What is your actual barrier? Like, really identify it. There are times when you may think it's one thing when actually it's really something else. You really need to go beyond the surface and identify what your challenge or your barrier is.
2. Review what your needs are - what are your immediate needs? What are the needs that you can take care of over time? Really take stock and decide what needs to happen now, and then take action on that.
3. Take care of your immediate needs. It's important to take care of your immediate needs and deepen your self care throughout this process. A lot of times when you're shifting from a place of feeling stuck or feeling like you have a barrier, you have to engage in deep self-care as you take action and take steps to move yourself forward and give yourself grace in the moment. Give yourself grace in your days because if you're taking action and moving just one step forward, that is progress. So sometimes you need to celebrate yourself, take care of yourself and make sure you're taking care of your needs.
4. Work on your mindset and shift your energy. Doing mindset work will help you be in a different frame of mind when you're looking to move beyond barriers and what's holding you back. I was reminded today about the energy that we're able to shift. For instance, I go to dance class on a regular basis, and the energy that I put into my effort in dance shows. So, if I'm excited and enjoying it, my energy is high and I'm moving a little bit more. I’m into it at that point. But, if I'm there and I'm just like, “I'm, I'm here.” (did you also hear the voice of Eeyore?) I'm just going with the motions. My energy and level of engagement isn't as high. And it's the same when you're working to move beyond barriers. When you shift your energy, you shift how you engage with your circumstances and ultimately what is happening. When you shift your energy you're that much more in the flow. Put yourself in the flow and be able to shift what's going on for you. Because you made a decision about it, you've shifted your energy and you're taking action.
5. Communicate your needs to others. Once you understand what your needs are, it is so important to communicate those with others. It is also good to communicate about boundaries. So if you know that you need to take care of something within the day and you get a call from somebody who wants you to bring them lunch or go to lunch with them, maybe it's not that time to go to lunch with them. Maybe that's something they can take care of in the moment for themselves and you can schedule lunch for another time with them — so that you can take care of your needs and let them know, well, “actually not today. I need to take care of this and I really appreciate it, but this is what I need now and we'll have to reschedule.” There are times where in my own process, I needed time or a moment to myself when I was raising my children and if I had been with them all day for five days of the week. I would take time to myself on a Saturday when my spouse was around. So I would communicate that need to my spouse to say, “Hey, I need a break. I need a moment. I'm gonna take myself out for a little bit.” It's important to communicate your needs.
6. Focus - When you need to move beyond barriers, it's important to choose one thing that you can focus on, that you can improve. Because when you're improving that one thing, you give yourself an opportunity to uplift the other things around you. I recently shared with someone that I was working with about this focus aspect of moving beyond barriers and how when you focus on one thing and you move that one thing forward, you have that opportunity to improve in other areas as well.
7. Create a plan of action - When you're looking to move beyond barriers, once you've identified them, you've engaged in self-care, and you've gotten a focus, you need to create a plan of action around that focus. What are you going to do to move forward? What are you going to do to activate in support of your new focus? What three or four action steps can you identify to help you improve an area?
8. Implement and take consistent action.
It's important to engage in these key steps that I've shared with you when you're looking to move beyond barriers. And also know that there are tools that you can use to break through and move beyond barriers that have been holding you back. The biggest thing is to really know these tools and put them into action and continued practice. So I'm going to give you a few tools now, and then I'm going to ask you a question and encourage you to answer this for you.
#1 Make sure that you're creating and writing down positive affirmations that you also say to yourself every day. In my own practice, I've posted affirmations on my bathroom mirror and every morning when I was getting dressed, I’d say those affirmations. I’d say those affirmations at night when I was preparing for bed. Whenever I used that bathroom, I would see and say those affirmations. It became a process for me, a repeatable process that began to seep into my subconscious. So if there were thoughts or things that were unsupportive, I had a positive thought and belief that I could see and say multiple times to help me move beyond a barrier. Try this and speak words of life to yourself.
#2 Shifting your limiting beliefs. And this is a tool that I do offer where you really just go through and really understand what your limiting beliefs have been and what's the exact opposite of that limiting belief, and then make a decision about that. And it's a whole process to change the way you think. So if you're interested in learning more about it, you can message me and let me know. It's a process of shifting from what was, what was the limiting belief to the new belief and moving forward within the new belief. And that's the work you get to do is shift your beliefs and you can do that by identifying what the limiting beliefs are, what the new beliefs are, and doing work to be in the mind frame of the new beliefs.
#3 Create or get a daily planner. Have a daily planner to align your life, your day with what you need to do within that day or if you need to set a goal that you need to work towards. What I've done with a daily planner is yes, add my meetings in that planner, yet also add a habit and a task list that helps me keep my top habits to activate and tasks available for me to see regularly and I like to check things off. So I am keeping in mind what I am doing daily and what I am activating to move beyond and create the life I truly want. So I'm not sure you're a person that likes to check things off or activate based on a plan, yet this really helps to keep you on track with measurable action steps you can see daily. And it's important to know that you create the things that you can complete. Add three or four things per day. No more than that on a planner, if you're starting out. Remember to focus.
#4 Create Healthy Habits - When doing the work to move beyond barriers, sometimes you need to take it one step at a time to help move you to where you need to be. So creating your action steps on your daily planner, but also creating maybe three positive habits that you're gonna implement in the day. Your positive habits could be 1. Daily prayer or meditation, 2. Exercising, 3. Drinking 8-10 glasses of water in a day or 4. Reading or journaling. Choose three daily habits that are gonna help you feel good. Remember this is your process and a process you are doing for you.
#5 Simplify - make sure you're doing one thing at a time and really simplify your process to activate and move forward.

How do I know the steps to move beyond barriers? Well, I was in your shoes at one point. I was someone who, on the outside, had it all together, but silently I was suffering with exhaustion and feeling like I had to be everything to everyone.
I was people pleasing and just doing what I thought everyone else felt needed to be done and I didn't feel that I was fully living up to my full potential. I wanted validation from other people. Yes, I was seeing results, but it was results happening for others based on what I activated. I was moving very slow to realizing my own deepest desires. I was seeing results in what I was doing for other people, but not as much results as for what I wanted and needed for me. And I decided that I needed to turn it all around. And then, I came up with the process of moving beyond feeling stuck. I took action and was able to turn my own situation around.
I had to do the work. Now I have clarity. I'm taking consistent action. I'm bringing things that I've envisioned into my life, and I've been able to do that over and over again. I've created my vision. And none of this would've happened if I didn't do the inner work, if I didn't get the guidance and support that I needed through this process. I’ve activated the steps that I've shared with you and these steps have allowed me to move beyond barriers and create opportunities and possibilities in my life which has led me to doing my true purpose work, which has led me to creating change in other people's lives, which has led me to making a bigger impact.
And it's true that barriers come up at each stage of our journeys. On every stage and in every aspect of our journeys. Yet, the tools that I have, I can use over and over again. The tools that I have to shift can move me beyond the barriers at every level that I'm in. And I get to own that. I get to activate that. And that's the beautiful thing about really understanding how you can move beyond barriers when you're faced with them. And this is the process that has worked for my clients and that I'm sharing with you today.
One of my clients, Ashley, was able to see old patterns in her life and shift them.

And again, that brought to my attention what I was really doing versus what I was saying I was doing. And allowed me to compassionately look at what was happening and decide to take action in a bigger way or to uncover what was stopping me from taking action.”
